The Portland Hospital is excited to recruit a Unit Sister for our new Ambulatory Gynaecology Unit, where we provide diagnostic, outpatient, and surgical treatments on one site. Renowned for clinical excellence, it is the only UK independent hospital dedicated entirely to women and children, offering expertise in Paediatrics, Obstetrics, and Women’s Health.
As the Sister, you will oversee high-quality care within the unit, providing clinical leadership, guidance, and support to staff, and collaborating with the gynaecology team to care for women during their inpatient stay.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide expert, individualized nursing care for patients receiving cystoscopy, hysteroscopy, Myosure, and manual vacuum aspiration.
2. Maintain high standards of clinical practice and contribute to guideline development.
3. Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
4. Offer gynecology advice and support to women and families, facilitating women-centered, family-focused care.
5. Coordinate daily shifts, providing leadership and clinical advice.
6. Oversee care provided by registered and non-registered staff.
7. Review workforce planning and manage staffing levels, including temporary staffing as needed.
8. Collaborate with consultants to support high-quality care.
9. Handle complex situations and emergencies appropriately.
10. Work autonomously within professional guidelines.
11. Participate in clinical audits and guideline development.
12. Manage duty rotas, annual leave, and study leave to ensure adequate staffing.
13. Operate within the ward/department budget and seek revenue growth opportunities.

What you’ll bring:
* Registered General Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Significant post-registration clinical experience
* Masters in Women’s Health or Gynaecology (or working towards)
* Experience in theatres and ambulatory gynecology
* Leadership or management experience
* Teaching, assessing, or mentoring qualification
* Basic adult and newborn Life Support
* Competent in cannulation and venipuncture
