Pupil Support Officer (Wellbeing Hub)
Fixed term until 01/06/2027. James Gillespie's High School is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pupil Support Officer to join our dedicated Wellbeing Hub team. The role works closely with young people who have complex educational needs and social, emotional, behavioural needs, providing personalised support and tailored timetables to help them thrive in an inclusive educational environment. This temporary post covers maternity leave from 1 June 2026 up to 1 June 2027 (TBC).
Salary: £29,173 – £33,287 (pro‑rate for part‑time and sessional). Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with complex educational, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
* Deliver and manage physical activity programmes to enhance student wellbeing.
* Work independently and take initiative in supporting students’ development.
* Collaborate with parents/carers, providing feedback and maintaining strong links.
Qualifications and Skills
* Training in nurture, de‑escalation strategies and trauma‑informed practices.
* Proficient in IT and use of school support systems.
* Excellent communicator capable of working effectively within a team and independently.
Requirements
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. All pre‑employment checks must be satisfactory for an unconditional offer.
