Social Worker – Family Safeguarding
Salary: £38,220 + £5,673 market-enhanced payment, progressing to £41,771 + £5,242

About the Team:
Hertfordshire’s Family Safeguarding Teams are multi-agency, bringing together children’s social workers and adult specialists in mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse. Local Government Association+1 These teams operate under a strengths-based model, using motivational interviewing and shared decision-making to support families to achieve sustainable change. Hertfordshire County Council The Centre for Family Safeguarding Practice provides training, mentoring, and a culture of reflective practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake assessments, child protection enquiries, and ongoing safeguarding work with families.
Work in partnership with adult specialists to address underlying causes such as mental health, substance misuse, or domestic abuse.
Use motivational interviewing to build engagement and motivate change in parents.
Develop and monitor safeguarding plans, attend meetings and court as necessary.
Contribute to reflective supervision and team development.Person Specification:
Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
Proven experience in statutory safeguarding, child protection, or assessments.
Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act) and multi-agency working.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and reflective practice skills.
Commitment to strengths-based, whole-family work.Benefits:
