Join us as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner in Scunthorpe - Job Description and Person Specification

Ready to use your Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) skills to make a real difference? We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at WithYou, in this key role for our service in Scunthorpe.

As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year. Find out more about us here.

Job Opportunity

At WithYou, we work with people on their own goals, whether that’s staying safe and healthy, making small changes or stopping an unwanted habit altogether. We give people support in a way that’s right for them either face to face in their local service, community or online. We use our expertise to improve the help available and raise awareness around drugs, alcohol and mental health so that more people can get support.

This is more than just a job; it's a chance to apply your expertise directly to those who need it most. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team, working alongside Recovery Workers to deliver impactful, psychologically-informed interventions. This is a unique opportunity to build on your MHWP training and positively change lives. In this role, you will:

* Provide crucial, evidence-based support - you will use your training to deliver wellbeing-focused interventions, helping service users with complex mental health presentations. Your work will directly support recovery plans, focusing on key areas like managing emotions, improving sleep, and building confidence
* Be a key part of the team - you'll work closely with your line manager, supervisor, and the rest of the drug and alcohol team, engaging with service users and their families to develop strengths-based, outcome-focused care plans
* Grow your skills with expert guidance - you will receive regular supervision from a qualified professional, such as an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist or a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist. This ensures you're always learning and delivering the highest quality of care.
* Collaborate and communicate effectively - you'll liaise with other health providers to ensure seamless continuity of care and communicate sensitive information to promote effective teamwork and positive outcomes for clients.

This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Essential Skills

We are looking for someone who has successfully graduated from a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) training program and is passionate about safeguarding the well-being of others. If you're ready to bring your skills to a role where they truly matter, we encourage you to apply. We’ll be excited to see the below in your application:

* Bachelor's degree at 2:2 in any subject
* Successful completion of MHWP certificate or postgraduate certificate training covering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing 7 Practitioners (MHWPs)
* Experience working as part of a team
* Experience of analysing and communicating complex information verbally and in writing
* Able to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in significant distress or who are cognitively impaired, their families and carers
* Ability to use IT skills to collect, collate and report on client’s progression

As an organisation, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports and celebrates the diverse voices and experiences of our staff. We know that representing the communities we serve is key to us meeting our vision of a future where everyone lives a life free from the harm associated with drugs and alcohol. We welcome the unique contributions that you can bring and we encourage people from underrepresented communities and backgrounds to apply to join our team, including people with lived experience, people with disabilities, people from racialised communities, LGBTQ+ people, people of all ages and armed forces veterans.
