About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Claims & Litigation Officer to join a well-established property and asset management business, supporting legal, risk, and compliance functions across a diverse commercial and residential portfolio.
You’ll play a key role in managing legal claims and contributing to the organisation’s risk management strategy. Working within a small in-house legal team, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of cases including professional indemnity, public liability, and County Court matters, while helping to ensure compliance and legal best practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct research and investigations into claims, producing clear reports on liability.
* Draft legal correspondence and defences with support from a senior caseworker.
* Provide written advice and guidance on legal matters related to property and leasehold law.
* Respond to debt claims and assist in managing legal proceedings.
* Maintain accurate case files for professional indemnity, public liability, and other claims.
* Keep up to date with relevant case law and share insights with the wider business.
* Support training efforts on legal and compliance topics.
* Assist with general administrative duties within the legal and compliance function.
* Collaborate with colleagues across departments to promote best practices in legal risk management.
About You:
Essential:
* Legal education to degree level (or equivalent).
* At least 2 years’ experience in a similar legal, claims, or compliance role.
* Strong understanding of leasehold property law and the ability to interpret lease clauses.
* Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Case Management Systems.
* Able to manage a personal caseload independently and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable:
* Completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
* Good understanding of property management for long leasehold properties.
* Experience writing detailed reports and communicating legal advice clearly.
