We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion) to join our Supported Learning Development. We have three roles available across three campuses.
You will join us on a full-time basis, receiving a competitive salary of between £44,409.00 per annum, plus staff benefits.
Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
About the Role
This role requires collaboration with the Head of Department, other Assistant Heads, Lecturers, and Technicians to coordinate daily activities effectively.
The role involves embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion practices, ensuring students with SEND and High Needs receive personalized curricula that incorporate English and Maths within vocational and supported learning contexts.
You will be responsible for staffing to support student achievement, maximizing learning support timetables, and implementing high-quality personalized curricula for students with High Needs. You will also champion inclusivity through mentoring and modeling inclusive practices.
Your management style should foster collaboration in planning, resource adaptation, and supporting learning support staff to enable all students to reach their full potential, including those with high needs.
Candidate Requirements
We seek candidates with strong leadership qualities, experience with special educational needs, and the ability to work effectively with students, families, and professionals.
You should have high pedagogic standards, experience developing curricula, and working with stakeholders to support the SEND agenda. Experience with quality assurance for various programs and familiarity with college systems like exams, student records, and MIS are essential.
Extensive experience in a specialized SEND setting, post-16 experience, and a strong relationship management approach are required. You should also be adept at implementing reasonable adjustments to promote inclusion.
