Engineering and construction company is looking for a Quality Officer for our headquarters in Loughborough to ensure that our steel reinforcing products meet the highest quality standards and comply with all applicable regulations and customer specifications. The Quality Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our quality management system, conducting inspections, and identifying areas for improvement.
Responsibilities:
* Implement and maintain the company's quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
* Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
* Perform dimensional checks, visual inspections, and mechanical testing of steel reinforcing products.
* Identify and document non-conformances and initiate corrective actions.
* Analyse quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
* Participate in internal and external audits.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
* Ensure that all measuring and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
* Communicate quality issues to relevant departments and work collaboratively to resolve them.
* Assist in the development and implementation of quality training programs for employees.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, metallurgy, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Quality Officer or Quality Control Inspector in a manufacturing environment (steel industry experience preferred).
* Thorough knowledge of quality management principles and practices.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality auditing procedures.
* Proficiency in measuring and testing equipment, such as callipers, micrometres, and tensile testing machines.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Detail-oriented and highly organised.
Working Conditions:
* Manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to noise and dust.
* Required to work in the production area to conduct inspections.
* Typically works during regular business hours but may be required to work overtime as needed.
