Offer description

The No Recourse North East Partnership (NRNE) is looking for a No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Development Worker for their NRPF: Tackling and Preventing Destitution Project.

The NRNE Partnership, established in, promotes knowledge sharing and good practice among agencies supporting those with NRPF. It was created in response to inconsistent decisions by public bodies, lack of sector expertise, and safety concerns for women from outwith the UK fleeing domestic abuse. Comprised mainly of third-sector organisations, public sector representatives, community groups, and elected officials, facilitated by GREC, Shelter Scotland, and Turning Point Scotland. The Partnership aims to ensure individuals with NRPF, particularly from minority ethnic communities, who are affected by homelessness, domestic abuse or destitution, receive quality advice and support.

The NRPF: Tackling and Preventing Destitution project aims to engage at a strategic and frontline level, to help develop capacity and improve practice across the North East, to support people with NRPF and develop effective approaches to prevent and tackle destitution.

The NRPF Development Worker will expand the NRNE Partnership, raise awareness, and represent the Partnership nationally and locally. They will influence and develop anti-destitution policies by engaging public bodies, participating in relevant local authority initiatives, and collaborating with relevant organisations. They will manage and support the Lived Experience Group, and key Partnership communications, including drafting NRNE Partnership policy responses, and managing the Partnership website and social media. See Job Description for more details.

An ideal candidate will be organised, have strong communication and collaboration skills, be able to take initiative and work independently, and be passionate about alleviating barriers for those from minority communities in the UK.

Although not a requirement, we strongly encourage applications from individuals with direct experience of NRPF and applicants from communities disproportionately impacted by NRPF.

Training will be provided for those without in-depth knowledge of NRPF and its complexities.

The Development Worker will report to the NRNE Partnership facilitators and receive line management from GREC’s General Manager.
