About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Communications Manager to lead and deliver a retail-focused internal and corporate communications strategy across our pharmacy estate. You will ensure pharmacy colleagues feel informed, engaged, and inspired, with communications that are clear, relevant, and practical. Using Opus, our core communications and activity-planning platform, you will help drive the successful delivery of our core initiatives and operational priorities across Retail.
This is a pivotal role, combining strategic oversight, stakeholder leadership, and hands-on communications management to ensure our pharmacy teams receive timely, actionable, and engaging information.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, define, and own the Retail communications strategy tailored to frontline pharmacy teams.
* Partner with senior Retail leadership and stakeholders to advise, plan, and deliver audience-specific communications, with Opus as the primary channel.
* Manage the Retail communications calendar to ensure:
* Clear prioritisation for pharmacy teams
* Consistent tone of voice and branding
* Reduced noise and duplication
* Timely, engaging, and actionable messages
* Ensure Opus is the central source of truth for Retail communications with strong governance.
* Optimise communication channels and formats to ensure effective delivery in a busy pharmacy environment.
* Measure and assess the impact of communications using Opus analytics, engagement data, and qualitative feedback.
* Provide line management and strategic leadership to the Communications Co-ordinator/Specialist.
* Lead high-quality content creation and cross-functional collaboration to maximise the impact of communications.
* Develop a fit-for-purpose Retail intranet content model aligned with Opus, improving navigation, search functionality, and role-specific information delivery.
* Partner with Central Operations and the Opus platform team to maximise adoption, engagement, and task completion.
* Plan and manage Retail-specific training sessions, events, and conferences, linking outcomes to follow-up communications via Opus.
* Facilitate effective two-way communication between Support Centre and pharmacy teams, championing colleague voice and innovative ideas.
* Coordinate monthly Retail business performance update calls, ensuring clear, accessible messages and supporting materials.
Skills and Experience
* Strong understanding of retail operations and the realities of communicating in a regulated, fast-paced frontline environment.
* Proven ability to design and deliver strategic retail communications using digital platforms to drive engagement and action.
* Credible and confident in partnering with senior leaders, shaping messages, and constructively challenging where needed.
* Excellent editorial judgement, able to simplify complex information and use feedback to continuously improve communications.
* Collaborative, accountable, calm under pressure, and focused on delivering what works best for colleagues.
