Our Mission
The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. As a nonprofit private operating foundation established in 1946, it researches and recommends innovative land use solutions to economic, social, and environmental challenges. The Institute conducts education, training, publications, and events to inform public policy globally. It has locations in Cambridge, MA; Washington, DC; Phoenix; and Beijing, focusing on goals such as climate-resilient communities, equitable tax systems, poverty reduction, sustainable land and water management, and efficient land markets.
Position Overview
The Institute seeks an Executive Director to lead its Latin America and Caribbean programs, maintaining current initiatives and developing new strategic visions, including establishing regional centers. The role involves working closely with the Chief Program Officer, overseeing program development, staff management, and administrative duties, including budgeting and fundraising. The position requires significant travel and is based in the Cambridge, MA office, with flexible work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and lead the Institute's Latin America and Caribbean programs, setting mission and long-term goals.
* Identify new opportunities for programming and network expansion in land and water policy.
* Oversee educational activities, including courses and training sessions, and engage with regional networks.
* Manage staff, oversee hiring, and foster professional growth.
* Lead budget planning, resource allocation, and fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
* Doctorate, Juris Doctorate, or related graduate degree.
* Expertise in land policy and land markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.
* 15+ years of experience working with municipal and state governments.
* Business acumen, leadership, and project management skills.
* Fluency in English and Spanish; proficiency in Portuguese preferred.
* Strong communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills.
