Technical Manager, Sustainability Reporting

We're looking for a Technical Manager, Sustainability Reporting to join our team in London on a permanent basis to drive improvement in sustainability reporting in the UK and internationally, through the creation and dissemination of guidance on sustainability and non-financial reporting issues, and matters that relate to financial reporting with respect to climate and other emerging risks, and by responding to policy proposals aimed at improving UK and international reporting standards and practice.

This role offers a salary of £75,000 - £85,000 and a hybrid working pattern of 2 days in the office and 3 days from home each week.


What you will be doing

* Create and disseminate high-quality guidance for members on relevant issues and high-impact areas (such as new and amended sustainability standards, accounting standards that relate to climate and other emerging risks, regulations for company accounts related to sustainability and sustainability reporting).
* Develop and communicate ICAEW policy positions and thought leadership on sustainability and non-financial reporting developments and proposals for change, building on relationships with member firms, the FRC, IASB, ISSB and other financial reporting and sustainability standard-setters and policy makers.
* Engage with key stakeholders within and outside the profession (such as the FRC, IASB to the extent it relates to sustainability matters on the financial statements, ISSB and the UK government) to represent ICAEW's voice on technical issues and policy matters.
* Raise awareness and communicate key developments to members via ICAEW's daily newsletter, the faculty's monthly bulletin and other communication channels, including other teams within ICAEW.
* Provide a compelling member offering across ICAEW's sustainability reporting and assurance portfolio. Developing and delivering high-quality content, guidance and engagement activities (such as factsheets, workshop resources, webinars and digital publications) that support members in meeting their ongoing professional development needs. Contribute to the review and maintenance of existing faculty webpages and other resources to ensure that they remain relevant and reliable, as well as searchable and navigable on the website and via search engines.
* Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and active members to identify issues, challenges, and opportunities for new guidance.
* Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs.


What you will need

* Be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
* Have a good understanding of developments in sustainability reporting, or ability and willingness to learn these areas if coming from a broader reporting/assurance background.
* An interest in emerging issues such as nature and social-related reporting and sustainability assurance.
* Ability to plan effectively, prioritise work and focus resources for maximum impact.
* Experience in roles with a strong technical component, or enthusiasm to undertake such work.
* Be a strong team worker with good interpersonal skills.
* Confident engaging with policymakers, senior stakeholders and leaders of the profession.
* High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
* Monitoring work, progress and priorities.
* Building effective working relationships across ICAEW.
* Ensuring activities and policy align with, and support, ICAEW's strategy.
* Ability to uphold high-quality standards of work within the Sustainability Reporting & Assurance team and the chartered accountancy profession, including working within peer review processes.
