We are seeking a motivated and HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our busy Histology department at Band 5/6 level. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused diagnostic service, working as part of a multidisciplinary laboratory team. Key Responsibilities Perform a wide range of routine and specialist histological techniques including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and immunohistochemistry. Ensure timely and accurate analysis of specimens in accordance with departmental protocols and ISO15189 standards. Participate in quality control, quality assurance, and audit processes to maintain compliance with UKAS accreditation. Operate and maintain a range of laboratory equipment, ensuring appropriate calibration and troubleshooting. Contribute to departmental training and supervision of trainees, support staff, and placement students where appropriate. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to meet service targets and support clinical colleagues. Adhere to all Health & Safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies within the Trust. Participate in the out-of-hours/on-call service (if applicable). Person Specification Essential: HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist. Previous experience working in a Histology laboratory. Knowledge of histological techniques and laboratory information systems. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Desirable: Experience at Band 6 level or equivalent. Evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development). Participation in laboratory audits and service improvement initiatives. Specialist portfolio or equivalent qualification in Histology.
