What's involved with this role: Job Title: Paralegal Reference: North Warwickshire 5284156 Salary: £14.82 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday Role length: 2 months opening assignment Job type: Hybrid Location: North Warwickshire Contract Type: Temporary The role: A paralegal supporting the Council’s Legal Services team, assisting with a broad workload across planning, procurement and contracts, enforcement, housing, governance and general litigation. The post supports the Head of Legal Services and contributes to delivering a reliable, compliant and efficient legal function. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and progress routine court applications, notices, pleadings, defences, witness statements and correspondence under supervision. Maintain and organise legal files, records and databases in line with regulatory requirements. Produce and issue invoices and legal documents to set standards and deadlines. Extract, analyse and collate data for reporting and case reviews. Conduct legal research as needed. Support data protection compliance, internal checks, training and governance work. Assist with complaints handling and Freedom of Information matters. Provide accurate legal and administrative assistance across litigation, housing, tenancy and other matters Offer legal advice to staff and Councillors where appropriate. Contribute to safeguarding the Council against legal, reputational and financial risk. Attend Council boards and committees when required. Work to KPIs, uphold Council policies and act in the Council’s interests at all times. What the client is looking for: Experience in housing, planning, data protection and Freedom of Information. Experience of court proceedings with the ability to work to tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting formal documents. Confidence in dealing with the public and complaints. Understanding of local government structures and current issues. Ability to work well within a team and offer practical solutions. Sound IT skills, especially MS Office. Commitment to safeguarding and equality. Good standard of English and maths, plus a law degree. Able to handle sensitive matters with minimal supervision and work across a wide range of services. Desirable: Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive. Experience motivating staff. Flexibility to work evenings when required. Full driving licence.
