Salary: £31,650 – £49,084 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Are you a resilient, compassionate, and dedicated SEMH Teacher passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs? GSL Education are seeking a committed SEMH Teacher to join a nurturing and inclusive school community in Dorchester from January 2026 on a permanent basis.
As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, personalised education to pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. Working closely with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals, you will help create a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment where every learner can thrive academically and emotionally. This role is ideal for an educator driven to make a lasting impact in specialist or alternative provision settings.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.
* Adapt teaching approaches to support individual emotional, behavioural, and learning needs.
* Create a consistent, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.
* Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate academic and pastoral records.
* Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external agencies.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and carers.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs.
* Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice.
* Patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach to teaching.
* Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
