Location: Runcorn, Cheshire

Full-time/Permanent position

We’re looking for a Food Standards Co-ordinator to lead the way in driving food safety and regulatory excellence at our Runcorn packaging site.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food safety, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and enjoys influencing people at all levels to embed a strong culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Governance Manager, the Food Standards Co-ordinator will have overall responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of our food safety management programmes. You’ll ensure full compliance with Diageo Global Risk Management Standards, ISO 9001:2015, and FSSC22000, while actively promoting food safety as part of the day-to-day site culture.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Implementation of a strategic plan to drive continuous improvement in food safety, including completion of food safety and hygiene audits.
2. Maintain the food safety management system that delivers regulatory compliance and ensures that requirements of internal and external accreditation are fully met.
3. Completion of food safety and audit reports to schedule.

What You’ll Do

4. Lead the HACCP team and maintain the site HACCP plan.
5. Deliver the internal hygiene and housekeeping audit schedule.
6. Investigate food safety consumer complaints and drive corrective actions.
7. Implement a strategic plan for continuous improvement in food safety, including hygiene and audit programmes.
8. Maintain and develop the Food Safety Management System, ensuring regulatory, internal, and external accreditation requirements are fully met.
9. Produce accurate and timely food safety and audit reports.
10. Support with validations and verifications of plant and process.
11. Actively promote compliance with company systems, processes and procedures as part of day-to-day site operations.

What You’ll Bring

12. A qualification in a science subject (e.g., GCE “A” Level or equivalent) plus relevant experience in a food-related business in Quality Assurance
13. Hands-on experience of HACCP and food safety management systems.
14. Exposure to laboratory work (ideally microbiological).
15. Knowledge of relevant management systems: ISO 9001:2015, FSSC22000 / BRC, and statutory requirements affecting the food industry.
16. Experience in standard development and auditing.
17. Strong influencing skills – able to challenge peers and senior managers constructively and objectively.
18. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
