Deputy Aseptic Accountable and Clinical Pharmacist

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our expanding Aseptic Services team based at Borders General Hospital. The New Aseptic Facility will operate under Section 10 exemption and provide vital IV Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT), Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and high risk CIVAS service, supplying safe, high-quality aseptic products to adult patients across the site.

You will join a dynamic team of dedicated staff and play a key role in implementing new processes, quality improvements, and service developments in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Working alongside the Accountable Pharmacist and Senior Pharmacy Technician, your key roles will be to:

* assist and supervise the dispensing of IV SACT, TPN and high-risk CIVAS items, including reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness and undertaking the final check and release of finished products.
* supervise and support the foundation pharmacists who rotate through Aseptic.
* undertake documentation review, internal and external audit and change management to continually improve the quality of the Aseptic Service.

In this role, you will play a key part in the day-to-day leadership of the aseptic service, ensuring high standards of GMP, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. You will also provide pharmaceutical care to patients within cancer and palliative care.

We Are Looking For

* GPhC-registered Pharmacist
* Completion of post-registration foundation training or equivalent experience
* Understanding of GMP, MHRA guidance, and Quality standards
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
* A team player with the confidence to lead and the curiosity to learn
* Demonstration of provision of patient-focused pharmaceutical care

We are committed to supporting your career with extensive training, continuous professional development opportunities, and a clear pathway for progression within aseptic services with funding available to complete the PTQA diploma/MSc. Whether you have experience in aseptic services or are looking to take the next step in your career, we will provide the support and mentorship you need to thrive.

The postholder will work closely with specialist pharmacists and local multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the developing role of technicians and pharmacy support staff. You will promote robust medicines governance, patient safety initiatives and future developments such as electronic medicines management. The position will include involvement in weekend and out-of-hours pharmacy services.
