Overview
The role of an Admissions Officer is to arrange and manage the admission dates for patients having an elective procedure. This covers the end-to-end process from the point that a clinician decides to add a patient to a surgical waiting list, through to the patient being admitted to hospital.
Key responsibilities
• Organise and manage patient admission dates and waiting list entries.
• Work as part of the Access team covering a variety of administrative functions across the Trust.
• Ensure that patients are admitted to hospital in a timely and efficient manner, making the process as smooth as possible for patients and clinicians.
• Follow policy & procedure guidelines and develop competence in departmental specialties during the first six months.
Qualifications & skills
• Up-to-date keyboard skills and recent clerical experience.
• Experience of dealing with members of the public.
• Proven ability to be flexible in responding to changing situations.
• Committed to training and development opportunities.
