Mechanical Fitter (Contract)

Greater Manchester, England, North West (North Manchester; commutable from North Manchester, Salford, Oldham, Trafford etc.)
Contract
Contract basis for a minimum of 6-12 months+ initially, likely to be longer.
Hourly Rate
£16.78/hr PAYE, £25.17/hr for hours over 39 per week. Overtime at one and a half.
Core Hours
07:30 – 16:00, 15:00 on Friday. Half hour lunch.
Key Functions
- Mechanical build, strip, and assembly of capital machinery.
Essential Qualifications
- Time served - recognised apprenticeship.
- Read/understand mechanical assembly drawings.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Continually self‑appraise on current and developing H&S Regulations.
Desirable Qualifications
- ONC level qualified engineer in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic & other mechanical systems.
- Working to tight tolerances.
- Installation of bearings and various seals.
Other Skills
- Good communication skills at all levels, verbal and written.
- Willing to work as full, supportive team member.
- Self‑motivated with a desire to achieve high standards.
- A strong sense of problem/solution ownership.
