We have a new job within North Yorkshire Council for a co-trainer in a training programme. The role is called “expert with lived experience co-trainer”.
About the Training Programme
The programme is called the Oliver McGowan training on Learning Disability and Autism.
This mandatory training was set up after Oliver, an autistic person with a learning disability, died in a hospital. His death could have been prevented.
The aim of having someone with lived experience as a co-trainer is to help health and social care staff better understand the needs of people with learning disabilities and autism.

* A friendly and positive attitude

* Be a Champion for Change to help healthcare workers understand the needs of people with learning disabilities and autism
* Share your ideas: We value your input! Tell us how we can improve the training
Key skills
* Be professional, friendly, and welcoming to training delegates
* Be able to speak about your experience in front of a group
* Ability to read, write, and use a computer
* Work collaboratively with other trainers to improve the training
* Help identify changes to provide better services
If successful, you will receive full training on how to do the job.

What Happens Next?
Shortlisting:
Applications will be reviewed after the deadline. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further details and an interview invitation.
Interview:
If selected, you will be contacted with the interview details, which will be held at one of the specified locations on the dates provided. You only need to attend one interview.
Key Dates:
* Closing Date: 30th May 2025
* Decisions on interviews: 2nd and 3rd June
* Interviews: week starting 16th June 2025 and week starting 23rd June
