About OCU Group
OCU Group is a market leader in end-to-end infrastructure engineering, operating across the utilities, digital and energy sectors. We specialise in delivering complex projects safely, efficiently and sustainably, supporting the UK’s journey to Net Zero. With rapid growth, strong investment and a reputation for technical excellence, OCU offers long-term career opportunities on nationally significant infrastructure schemes.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Surveyor / Land Rights Surveyor to join our growing team, supporting major utility and infrastructure projects across London and the South West. This role is heavily focused on agricultural and rural land, working directly with landowners, farmers and local stakeholders.
This is a people-focused role as much as a technical one. You’ll need a strong agricultural understanding, empathy for landowners and occupiers, and the ability to balance commercial delivery with doing the right thing on the ground.
We are open to:
* Experienced Land / Utility Surveyors, or
* Newly qualified RICS surveyors or surveyors qualified by experience, with strong rural or agricultural backgrounds
Utilities experience is desirable but not essential — training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality land and property advice on behalf of OCU’s clients, taking ownership and pride in your work
* Secure land rights including wayleaves, easements, temporary possessions and land acquisitions
* Negotiate compensation claims fairly and professionally, with a clear understanding of agricultural impact and reinstatement
* Work closely with design and delivery teams to ensure proposals align with consenting requirements
* Build trusted relationships with landowners, farmers, agents, clients and internal stakeholders
* Communicate clearly and confidently, managing expectations and resolving issues proactively
* Lead collaborative working on projects, often based from site or project offices
* Maintain accurate records, provide client updates and ensure KPIs are met
* Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and professional standards
* Maintain CPD and stay up to date with legal and technical developments
Skills & Experience
* RICS qualified, newly qualified, or qualified by experience
* Strong agricultural and rural land knowledge (essential)
* Experience negotiating compensation and understanding reinstatement obligations
* General understanding of infrastructure or construction methods
* Familiarity with wayleaves, easements, land acquisition, CPOs and environmental consents (desirable)
* Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
What We Offer
* Work on high-profile, long-term infrastructure projects
* Clear career progression within a fast-growing organisation
* Training and development in utilities land rights (if required)
* Supportive, professional and values-led working environment
* Competitive salary and benefits package
