Health Protection Nurse Specialist - Public Health
Health Protection Nurse Specialist - Public Health role at NHS Scotland. This is a permanent, full-time post of 37 hours per week. The shift pattern is 08:00–18:00 (9.5 hours) over 4 days. The post is based within the Public Health Protection Unit, 1 Floor, West House, Gartnavel Royal Hospital Campus.
The post holder will, through cooperation with partner agencies (especially local authorities), support and protect the local population from communicable diseases and environmental hazards. This will involve risk identification, investigation and mitigation to prevent, control or reduce exposure to health threats and limit damage to health when exposures occur. The post requires close work with the public, Infectious Diseases Unit staff, Infection Prevention and Control Teams, laboratory staff, Pharmacy, Immunisation Teams and local partner agencies. Multidisciplinary working and experience of working in the community and with vaccinations are required.
Public Health Department operates 7-day working; weekend and public holiday working is required. Shift pattern is 08:00–18:00 (9.5 hours) across 4 days, Monday to Sunday.
Requirements: You must be a registered nurse/midwife/RMN on the NMC Register, hold a relevant first degree/post-registration qualifications, and demonstrate evidence of further professional development. You will be working towards a master’s level qualification in Public Health/Infection control or similar. Substantial post-registration experience is required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with pay unchanged. The reduction will be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract reflect the new working hours.
