Join to apply for the Associate Highways Engineer (Liveable Places) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.
We are looking for an Associate based in our Manchester office who can support our Regional lead for the North, along with the Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership and business development, work directly with clients to achieve sustainable transport needs, act as Project Manager, stay informed about industry trends, oversee project budgets and financial performance, undertake technical preparation and review of deliverables, and collaborate with teams across WSP to achieve objectives.
What you will do
* Support our Regional lead for the North, along with the wider Liveable Places team and WSP with leadership & business development
* Work directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
* Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
* Stay informed about industry trends and best practice
* Oversee projects budget and financial performance
* Undertake technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
* Work collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and our colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives
Your team
Liveable Places works with a wide range of local authority and private clients across the UK to help them achieve their placemaking ambitions. We deliver schemes from concept to delivery including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian/traffic modelling. We work with clients such as TfGM, various councils and authorities, and many others. The team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff and ongoing growth planned. This role offers exposure to a wide variety of experiences and a pivotal position to help drive the team’s growth.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* A civil engineering degree, transport planning degree or equivalent
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (desirable)
* Knowledge of current transport policy and standards
* Proven ability to support with winning public sector work and grow our offer in Greater Manchester and Liverpool City Region
* Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
* Proven track record in project management and financial control
* Passion for mentoring and developing talent
* Transport, road safety, parking and traffic engineering experience
* Good spoken and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
