Meadows school is a small Trauma Informed independent school based in Rochdale that offers pupils aged 11 years to 16 years who require a special and additional educational experience. The school offers a unique curriculum including an exciting animal therapeutic offer at our partner service in Romiley Stockport. When you come to our school, you will see pupils completing their work alongside baby chicks, rabbits, ponies and other animals.
Summary
You must be educated to at least degree standard and have direct experience of working and managing children in either a school or social care setting. You must be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of working, motivated by helping every pupil to reach their full potential.
You will be working with the Headteacher on leading and developing the pastoral side of the school.
You will action and manage pastoral areas including supporting the SENDCO on effective transition of pupils, developing and managing live pastoral plans and reviews in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.
You will create a positive and safe pastoral environment for the pupils and promote positive relationships between peers.
You must have a therapeutic approach that offers an innovative and exciting approach to offering a personalised pastoral plan for our pupils.
You will be expected to work at various locations across Greater Manchester, in particular Rochdale, Oldham and Stockport.
Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
You will then be required to join the DBS Update service, which will be at a cost of £16 per year.
Responsibilities
* Responsibility within the school for all none teaching time, pupil welfare, curriculum development and safeguarding issues. The Pastoral Manager will enable all students to develop personal excellence and a sense of pride in both the year group and the school. They will play a very important part in the creation of a positive ethos and in fostering productive home-school links.
* Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and all aspects of safeguarding children
* To manage the safeguarding of all pupils in line with the "Keeping Children Safe in Education policies and procedures.
* To support the work and curriculum of tutors
* To help prepare assemblies and form time activities for the pupils as necessary
* To take a lead in managing none structured time.
* To manage and chair educational meetings, in particular CLA reviews and Pupil Education Plan meetings.
* To collate and prepare whole school management reports in relation to behaviour, progress and pastoral needs.
* Qualifications
* Qualifications and training
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in a school.
* Desirable: A degree - ideally in education or childcare.
* Essential: English and Maths qualifications to at least Grade C or above at GCSE or equivalent.
* Desirable: Recent training on GDPR
