We are currently recruiting for a PTS Ambulance Care Assistant for Selby Ambulance station for a part-time, permanent role who shares a value and belief in delivering the highest standards of quality service and patient care.

Working days will be Wednesday & Thursday covering shifts aligned to a 9 week rolling rota, 7.5 hours a day (15 hrs). Shifts will include 0700/1500, 0800/1600, 1100/1900 & 1200/2000.

* Training Courses are full time, Mon- Fri for 4 weeks, full attendance is required.

Please note: you must have a full UK manual driving licence to apply for this role.


Main duties of the job

Responsible for the care and safe transportation of non-emergency PTS patients.

Ensuring timely transportation to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres, day units or other places of care.

At all times the post holder must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues, and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices.

Person Specification


Qualifications / Knowledge

* Level 2 entry requirement e.g. 3 GCSEs grade A*-C or NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues
* Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
* Ability to carry out manual handling including the lifting of patients and equipment
* Proven ability to handle sensitive situations professionally, assertively, and tactfully
* Basic IT skills e.g. word, e-mail


Personal/Other

* Full driving license with no more than three penalty points for new entrants to YAS or a maximum of six for existing YAS employees
* Able to work as part of a team
* Ability to manage in demanding situations and make sound decisions
* Self-disciplined and able to work on own initiative


Experience

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from experience of dealing with customers or members of the public
* Background in a customer or patient orientated field

£25,760 to £27,476 a yearPer annum, pro rata
