Overview
Acorns Children’s Hospice is looking for a Children, Young Person and Family Support Assistant to join our team in our Black Country Hospice, Walsall. The role supports the collation of information to inform holistic needs assessments to meet the physical, social and mental wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families. We offer specialist palliative care and support for children and their families across the West Midlands, in the hospice, community and at home. Our aim is to help families feel equipped to cope at every stage of their child’s life with dedicated teams offering psychological, emotional and practical support.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to children and young people through individual work or group sessions
* Provide signposting to enable families to access information and practical support
* Participate in and facilitate support groups and family activity days
* Support the child or young person and their family before and following death
* Empower children, young people and their families to make decisions about their care and exercise choice
About You
* Experience of working with children, young people and/or families
* Holistic approach with good assessment skills
* Flexible and used to working on own initiative
* Willingness to travel independently across the region
What We Offer
* Salary: £26,000 to £27,000 per annum
* 37.5 hours per week (job share applications are welcome)

You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references. Candidates will also be asked to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm their willingness to receive the necessary vaccinations.
