Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of PVC sheets and accessories. This includes maintaining accurate stock levels, ensuring safe handling of materials, leading warehouse staff, and implementing best practices to optimise warehouse operations while meeting customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
* Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of PVC sheets, trims, and accessories.
* Ensure materials are stored safely to prevent damage, particularly large or fragile PVC sheets.
* Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure regular stock counts are carried out.
* Implement and monitor warehouse systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
* Schedule and coordinate incoming and outgoing deliveries, working closely with suppliers, transport, and customer service teams.
Health & Safety / Compliance
* Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies, manual handling regulations, and industry standards.
* Maintain a safe working environment and ensure staff are trained in the correct handling of PVC sheets and related accessories.
* Monitor use of equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and cutting tools, ensuring maintenance and safe operation.
Staff Management
* Supervise, train, and support warehouse staff, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance.
* Organise rotas, allocate workload, and ensure adequate cover to meet operational needs.
* Promote teamwork and a positive working culture in the warehouse.
Stock & Inventory Control
* Manage inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimise stock discrepancies.
* Conduct regular audits and cycle counts, reconciling physical stock with system data.
* Liaise with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and manage stock replenishment.
Continuous Improvement
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline warehouse operations.
* Introduce and maintain warehouse management systems (WMS) where applicable.
* Drive initiatives to reduce waste and improve sustainability in packaging and storage.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or Supervisor within construction materials, building products, or industrial supplies.
* Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, stock management, and logistics.
* Experience handling large sheet materials and accessories.
* Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
* Forklift licence (counterbalance or reach truck).
* Proficient in warehouse software and MS Office (Excel, Word).
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practices.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of SAP
* Experience in supply of PVC sheets, cladding, or related construction materials.
* Knowledge of lean warehouse principles.
