Healthcare Support Worker

Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Healthcare team, providing care and support to patients within HMP Ranby in accordance with security guidelines.
* Work closely with other teams within the prison and external agencies in meeting the holistic needs of the patients.
* At times, work without direct supervision, undertaking delegated tasks and reporting back to the Registered Nurses.
* Actively participate in the ongoing development of positive working relationships with prison staff.
* Perform clinical observations, report abnormalities, and document in System One accurately.
* Follow infection prevention and control guidelines to protect self, colleagues, and patients.
* Assist in the provision of clinics including phlebotomy, vaccinations, ECGs, physical investigation clinics, and wound care clinics.
* Participate in resident screenings with healthcare colleagues.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and legible records of resident care, including data input and statistical information.
* Contribute to ordering, distribution, stock control and maintenance of healthcare equipment and resources.
* Perform healthcare admin duties such as booking appointments, scanning patient information and answering queries.
Essential qualifications
* GCSE Maths & English or equivalent functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
* Care certificate or willingness to work towards.
* Completion of a clinical skills competency-based workbook or equivalent vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations.
* Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment (e.g., blood glucose monitors, venepuncture).
* Care experience in a health or social care setting.
* Experience working in offender health.
* Experience using System One.
* Phlebotomy trained.

* Care certificate.
* Experience in a healthcare setting.
Security Vetting
The application includes evidence of the required years of UK residency (minimum 3 continuous years) to meet prison vetting standards.
