Location: Tadley, Bramley, Burghfield (West Berkshire)
Salary: Starting from £27,000 per year (£13.66/hour) based on 38 hours per week
About the Role
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for safeguarding and supporting children overnight in one of our residential homes. You will ensure a safe, calm, and nurturing environment, attend to children’s emotional and physical needs, and complete essential tasks to prepare the home for the following day.
This is a lone working role, ideal for someone with maturity, resilience, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide overnight supervision, care, and emotional support.
* Be alert to signs of distress or safeguarding concerns and report appropriately.
* Support personal care and hygiene routines where required.
* Keep accurate records and complete admin tasks during the shift.
* Clean and prepare the home for the following day.
* Communicate effectively with day staff and management handovers.
* Remain vigilant and responsive to any incidents or needs through the night.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children or vulnerable people is preferred.
* Confidence working independently through the night.
* Calm, reliable, and highly observant.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
* Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
* A full UK driving licence is desirable (not essential due to staff transport).
