Role Overview
Lead a portfolio of personal tax returns, preparing complex returns and reviewing simpler ones prepared by junior team members. Act as the primary point of contact for most clients in your portfolio and assist senior staff with advisory matters, including the preparation of advisory reports.
Responsibilities
* Prepare complex personal tax returns.
* Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring key deadlines are met.
* Assist junior team members with training and queries.
* Review simple tax returns prepared by junior team members.
* Identify and support advisory opportunities.
* Manage client relationships.
* Assist with wider compliance obligations of the tax team, including CGT returns, IHT returns, trust regulations, and related matters.
* Perform other ad‑hoc duties, including advisory work in areas such as residency, domicile, property, IHT, trusts and estates.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* ATT qualified or equivalent.
* Good technical tax knowledge and experience in preparing personal tax returns.
* Developing experience in managing a compliance portfolio.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ideally experience in preparing advisory reports.
* Experience of looking after own client allocation for the annual compliance cycle.
* Experience working with SME clients at a mid‑tier UK accounting firm.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and provide excellent client care.
* Demonstrable experience of working with increasingly complex tax returns and a varied portfolio.
