West Berkshire Council is seeking a Service Lead – Projects to join our Transformation Service and play a key role in leading and managing a portfolio of exciting projects and initiatives.
The Role
As the Service Lead – Projects, you will be responsible for:
* Leading and managing a team of project professionals to ensure the successful delivery of high‑profile transformation projects.
* Working closely with the Service Director to provide leadership and direction across the Transformation Service.
* Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify, scope, and initiate projects that drive service improvement and efficiency.
* Ensuring effective project governance, including the establishment of appropriate reporting structures and mechanisms.
* Monitoring and reporting on project progress, risks, and issues, providing timely updates to the Service Director and other stakeholders.
* Facilitating project boards and ensuring active engagement from project sponsors and stakeholders.
* Providing expert advice and guidance on project management methodologies and best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Extensive experience in leading and managing transformation projects within a complex organisational environment.
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience in managing and developing project teams.
* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Proactive and solution‑focused, with the ability to navigate challenges and drive successful project outcomes.
