TECHNICIAN (LIGHTING)
Hours: full time, 37.5 hours per week

The Courtyard is Herefordshire's primary arts organisation, producing, hosting and supporting a wide range of participatory and non-participatory events both in the main venue in Hereford and at others throughout the county. We are proud of our status as a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England. We produce several in-house shows annually including pantos, children's shows, pro-ams and youth theatre productions, and present drama, comedy, dance, opera, music and film, as well as providing a venue for local theatrical companies and schools.
We are looking for an individual with experience of working in a venue and a lighting specialism to assist with the day-to-day management and smooth running of all technical aspects of The Courtyard's work. Our ideal candidate will have good experience of lighting design, programming and operation. You will be joining and friendly and supportive team, and will be responsible, as directed, for technical support and maintenance at The Courtyard and at designated venues and spaces. Candidates need to be confident working at height.
Job Requirements
* Experience of working in a backstage environment
* Knowledge of modern lighting network protocols - Net3, sACN, ArtNet
* Proficient in use of ETC Eos lighting software
* Working knowledge of ETC LED Conventionals & Robe Moving Light fixtures
* Ability to interpret and implement rigging of various lighting plans
* Ability to maintain and repair a range of technical equipment
* Numerate & literate to GSCE level or equivalent
* Degree level in relevant subject or equivalent work-related experience
* Experience of health & safety practice and procedures
* Good organisational skills
* Knowledge of latest technical
* Knowledge of Dante, OSC and other technical theatre protocols an advantage
* Broad knowledge of implementation of other technical disciplines - stage, sound, flys (hemp/counterweight)

Job Responsibilities
* To assist with all technical requirements, with particular regard to stage lighting, and all related activities, to ensure the smooth day-to-day effective functioning of The Courtyard and all activities therein, as directed.
* To carry out and ensure the implementation of systems and procedures that deliver the most efficient and effective services to the highest standard for all users of The Courtyard.
* To assist with 'get -ins' and 'get-outs' for performances, exhibitions, events and activities.
* To carry out and ensure a high standard of housekeeping in all backstage areas.
* To provide assistance, information and advice on all The Courtyard's facilities to hiring companies, artistes and their agents.
* To assist with the organisation of backstage areas, facilities, stores and functions and ensure preparation for performances, productions, events and activities as directed.
