Job Overview
This is a 12‑month training post in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will undertake a Postgraduate Certificate offered by the University of Hertfordshire, starting October 2026. Upon qualification, the role will transition to an Advanced Practitioner Sonographer for at least 2 years.
* Training in General Medical and Gynaecology at John Radcliffe Hospital.
* Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Horton Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Gain all clinical and academic competencies to independently perform ultrasound examinations.
* Provide a diagnostic report on ultrasound examinations undertaken.
* Work within ultrasound departmental guidelines and Trust policies.
* Provide patient care and record findings accurately.
* Communicate findings to referring clinicians and patients where appropriate.
* Assist with coordinating the day‑to‑day operational workload of the department.
* Work as a team member within a multi‑disciplinary team, ensuring high standards of patient care.
* Participate in any future 7‑day service as required.
Qualification Requirements
* Diploma/BSc in Radiography or Health Related Science.
* HCPC registration or equivalent.
* Minimum 1 year experience in Radiography or Health Related Science.
Experience
* Evidence of shadowing in ultrasound department.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* High patient care standards.
* Ability to organise workload.
Personal Attributes
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Remaining calm under pressure.
* Ability to work with all grades of staff.
Employment Details
Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum pro rata (5% RRP).
Probation: 6 months.
Working hours: full‑time, 37.5 hours per week.
