About the Company:
Kinetic Games is a new video game development studio based in Southampton. We are a passionate team of developers using Unity to improve the horror experience of Phasmophobia, available on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Animator to join our team. You will be responsible for creating high-quality animations for characters, creatures, and environments, working closely with artists, designers, and programmers to develop rigs, workflows, and implement animations in Unity. Your work will ensure animations are visually appealing, responsive, and optimized across platforms.
Responsibilities:
* Design and maintain character, creature, camera, and object rigs that are efficient and user-friendly.
* Implement and manage animation systems and state machines within Unity.
* Develop tools to enhance animation pipelines.
* Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot rigging, skinning, and implementation issues.
* Work with programmers to improve animation pipelines and systems.
* Optimize animations for performance on various hardware including PC, VR, and consoles.
* Ensure animations meet standards for gameplay responsiveness and visual quality.
Requirements:
* Experience as a Technical Animator on at least one shipped Unity game.
* Proficiency with rigging, skinning, and animation control in software like Maya or Blender.
* Experience with Unity animation systems, including Animator Controllers and State Machines.
* Proficiency in C# and tool development.
* Knowledge of real-time animation principles, IK, retargeting, and constraints.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance quality with performance.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Passion for horror games and familiarity with Phasmophobia.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
Nice To Have:
* Experience with VR animation challenges.
* Knowledge of motion matching, procedural, or physics-based animation.
* Experience with Unity DOTS or optimization techniques.
* Familiarity with facial animation and lip-sync pipelines.
* Experience with version control systems like Git or Perforce.
