Children's Housing Occupational Therapist

This post involves working with children and their families at home and assessing for appropriate housing adaptations and equipment. Training and skill development opportunities will be provided on an ongoing basis, and the post holder will be supported by the wider team as well as the Manager of the Children's Housing OT Service.

You will have the opportunity to work with children and young people who have a wide range of complex developmental and physical needs, including conditions such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Muscular Dystrophy. You will drive to see the children at home and collaborate with partners in Health, Social Services, and District/City Councils to provide solutions that meet assessed needs.

This post sits within the wider Children's Social Care team and involves contributing to service development and implementing evidence-based practice.


Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Occupational Therapist committed to making a difference for children and families. Our team aims to shape children's social care for the future and improve residents' lives in Oxfordshire. We value passion and dedication.

* Qualified Occupational Therapists with experience in housing adaptations (as a Student, OT, or in a personal capacity) and registered with HCPC.

About us

We are a small team of Occupational Therapists and Support Officers dedicated to making a significant impact on the lives of children, young people, and families. We seek qualified OTs with experience in housing adaptations and equipment to provide high-quality solutions. Experience in Children's Services is desirable but not essential.

The Children's Housing OT service partners with young people, parents, health, education, and social service professionals to deliver holistic services across Oxfordshire. Our approach is built on partnership working, involving local councils and housing associations in solution planning, and fostering innovative responses to evolving family needs.


Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

* Assessing children's needs in their home environments and developing tailored solutions.
* Preparing formal assessments, re-housing reports, and specifications.
* Designing adaptations to meet identified needs and collaborating with local agencies for successful outcomes.
* Managing a busy caseload efficiently.
* Advocating for children and families, ensuring their voices are central to our work.


About you

This role is suited for an OT who is enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to making a difference. We're looking for candidates who are:

* Qualified Occupational Therapists registered with HCPC, with housing adaptations experience.
