AWS Data Platform Architect – Banking (Inside IR35)
£700–£850 per day (negotiable rates around this range, Inside IR35)
Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)
Contract: 6 months+ (TBC)
We are looking for a highly experienced AWS Data Platform Architect to join a major programme within the banking sector. A strong banking/financial services background is essential due to the regulatory and security requirements of the environment.
This is a hands‑on architecture role where you will design and deliver secure, scalable AWS data platforms, working closely with engineering, security, and analytics teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Architect end-to-end AWS data platforms (S3, Lake Formation, Glue, Athena, EMR/Spark)
* Design multi-account governance, security, and access models
* Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and PySpark
* Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
* Deliver CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
* Optimise data pipelines for performance, cost, and quality
* Collaborate across data, security, and business teams
* Support team coordination and work allocation
Must-Have Skills
* 10+ years’ experience in data engineering/platform architecture
* Strong banking/financial services experience (essential)
* Deep expertise in AWS data services: Lake Formation, Glue, Athena, S3, IAM, KMS
* Advanced Spark / PySpark experience
* Proven experience with Terraform and GitHub Actions
* Team leadership / coordination experience
Nice to Have
* Iceberg, Delta Lake or Hudi
* AWS DMS and EMR tuning
* Experience in highly regulated environments
