We’re searching for a calm, caring, and confident Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in South Shields.
The role:
You’ll be the steady hand in the classroom, helping pupils regulate, re-engage, and succeed in their learning. Whether it’s supporting one-to-one or working with small groups, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe and positive learning environment.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
* Using de-escalation techniques to keep classrooms calm
* Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to put tailored strategies in place
* Building trust, encouragement, and consistency with pupils who need it most
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with children or young people (in schools, youth work, care, or similar)
* A calm, positive approach under pressure
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A passion for helping every child succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
