Fixed Wing Operations Support Specialist

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft is a military aircraft developed by Boeing Defence, built on a modified design of the 737-800ERX. The Aircraft is fitted with equipment to tackle a diverse range of missions, including protecting submarines and reconnaissance missions. The platform was initially developed for the US Navy, first flown in 2009 and introduced in 2013. In 2019, the UK Ministry of Defence received the first of a fleet of nine P-8A Aircraft.

The Operations Support specialist (Document Controller) is responsible for providing support to the maintenance control team, providing direct control and supervision of all aircraft documentation during aircraft Scheduled maintenance, Unscheduled maintenance, Repairs, Modification work, ensuring all technical data in use is at the correct revision and compiling and auditing taskcards. Working with both electronic and hard copy records, responsibilities include auditing, updating and archiving activities.

Responsibilities will include:

1. Supporting the Maintenance Control and Maintenance Execution teams in daily cadence

2. Providing direct control and supervision of all maintenance records

3. Updating and managing GOLDesp

4. Compiling taskcards and Digital Work Orders

5. Printing and preparing workpacks

6. Auditing, updating and delivery of the electronic and hard copy records for assigned aircraft as stipulated in the Statement of Work

7. Auditing all maintenance paperwork and ensuring errors logged and corrected

8. Archiving maintenance workpacks in both paper and electronic formats

9. Ensuring the latest Approved Data and Technical Information are being used by the maintenance teams

Typical Competencies:

10. A good communicator, with a demonstrable ability to communicate technical work requirements

11. Capable and experienced in sequencing and controlling demanding workloads, on time, to budget and to the required standard

12. Capable of understanding and interpreting Technical data

13. Able to demonstrate understanding/knowledge of leadership skills/ styles and the ability to apply them in effective management

Preferred Education/Experience:

14. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience

15. Experience in Technical Records management or Documents Control in a CAMO or Maintenance Repair Organisation

16. Military or Civil Aircraft Maintenance experience

17. Completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training programme

18. Experience of GOLDesp and Form 700 series (RAF) beneficial

19. Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office with the ability to compile and present reports of a technical nature.
