Senior Booking Co‑ordinator
Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to patients' experience of care? We are seeking a Senior Booking Co‑ordinator to join our well‑established Patient Booking team.
In this role, you will support the smooth scheduling of patient appointments, ensuring treatment is arranged within required timeframes. You'll work closely with clinicians, patients and colleagues across the Trust, so strong communication and negotiation skills are essential. If you are calm, empathetic and confident working on your own initiative, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
This is an onsite role, with the option for flexible working patterns once training is complete. No two days are the same—it's a fast‑paced environment where attention to detail, adaptability and a good sense of humour are key.
We provide full training and ongoing support to help you settle into the role and thrive.
Hours
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week (9am–5pm)
Part‑time hours will also be considered
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Booking Co‑ordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all elective patients are admitted efficiently for surgery, in line with national guidelines and the Trust's Patient Access Policy. You will be responsible for managing waiting lists effectively and making confident, well‑informed decisions to support timely patient care.
You will communicate these decisions clearly to key stakeholders—including Consultants, Managers, Theatre teams and Nursing staff—helping to maximise the efficient use of Trust resources and ensuring a smooth patient journey from referral to admission.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
Experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
Ability to use computer software to develop operating lists (following formal training)
Experience dealing with people (customers, patients) over the telephone or in person
Ability/experience of working under pressure
Ability to problem solve/use initiative
Desirable criteria
Experience of dealing with patients appointments
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
Polite and professional telephone manner and ability to deal with angry, difficult or distressed callers
Effective decision making skills to process a range of information (some of it conflicting) and decide on the most appropriate course of action
Excellent organizational skills
Prioritises own workload to meet deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team

Guidance Score Educated to GCSE/O level or equivalent work experience
