Full-Time English Literature Teacher in Southampton, Hampshire (SO16)!

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time English Literature Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This exciting opportunity begins in September 2025 and offers a competitive salary ranging from £30k to £50k per year, depending on experience. A permanent or fixed-term contract is available following a successful probation period, with excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging and thought-provoking English Literature lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
* Design and implement a well-structured curriculum that fosters a love for reading, analysis, and critical thinking.
* Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to support academic growth.
* Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
* Participate in school events, parent evenings, and ongoing professional development.
* Uphold high standards of behaviour and support students’ personal and academic development.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding and school policies at all times.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
* Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English Literature.
* Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4 (ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply).
* Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
* Ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
* An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
* Full-time, secure role for the academic year with potential for a permanent contract.
