A globally known Tier 1 Bank are looking for a SRE/Infrastructure Engineer who has focused experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This will be a short term contract up until the end of March (
4/5months
) for a project that is being undertaken. This position will also operate as
fully remote
.
System & Environment Analysis
* Conduct a thorough analysis of existing on-premise systems (e.g., Genesis, MS SQL) and the managed GCP environment.
* Evaluate current networking, IAM, VPC, and VPC-SC configurations to ensure the new solution can be deployed and operated securely and efficiently.
Infrastructure & Operational Enablement
* Provision, manage, and optimize core GCP services, including
VPC, Cloud NAT, Cloud Storage, GKE Autopilot, Dataproc, and Secret Manager
.
* Establish and secure network connectivity between on-premise data sources and GCP services.
* Implement and enforce robust IAM policies, security guardrails, and compliance controls based on enterprise standards, focusing on fine-grained access, data masking, and auditable query logging.
* Harden, test, and configure data connectors, with a specific focus on the
Starburst vector connector
.
* Implement a comprehensive resource tagging strategy for effective cost tracking and resource management.
Architecture, Governance, & Monitoring
* Collaborate with architects and development teams on the solution's Architecture Design.
* Develop and maintain key documentation, including the
Technical Runbook and Operations Guide
, to ensure smooth operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
* Define and implement policies and best practices for performance tuning and cost management.
* Set up comprehensive
Cloud Monitoring and Logging
, including custom dashboards for GKE clusters and Dataproc jobs, and advanced queries to isolate logs for specific components.
* Assist in the development of vectorization pipelines and orchestration workflows for batch and post-call processing.
Cloud Financial Management
* Partner with the project team to accurately estimate and validate the GCP run-rate for the proposed architecture.
* Utilize GCP pricing tools and financial models to provide clear cloud consumption forecasts.
Required Skills;
* Experience as a Cloud Engineer / SRE / DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on GCP.
* Knowledge of GCPs COre services (GKE, Dataproc, VPC, Cloud Storage)
* Knowledge around IAM and IAM security policies.
* Understanding of Cloud Networking Principles.
