Job Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Civil Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Scotland. Our design hubs are located in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen, with additional offices in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn, and Huntly.
Our team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with a total value exceeding £1bn.
The role:
Senior Engineers are vital within the Design team and work alongside our client, Transport Scotland. You will support your Design Team Leader on various road schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions that meet all relevant standards and client requirements.
* Preparing and checking designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation for scheme deliverables.
* Supervising junior staff and overseeing their work.
* Managing project budgets and controlling costs.
* Liaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queries.
* Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
* Promoting health and safety practices within the team.
What you will bring:
* Relevant technical experience, likely from an Engineer role or similar.
* Ability to produce compliant engineering solutions independently and supervise others.
* Experience with health, safety, and welfare management, including regulations.
* Capability to act as main engineering contact on projects, such as CRE for Network Rail schemes.
* Proficiency with relevant software and analytical tools.
* Good commercial awareness.
* Understanding of CDM and risk assessment, capable of acting as Principal Designer.
* Professional qualification, such as Incorporated or Chartered status, is desirable and may be essential.
