Overview
Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry role at NHS Scotland - NHS Forth Valley. Full-time with part-time considered. Salary Scale - £111,430 - £148,064 per annum (pro rata if part time).
Responsibilities
* Within the Community Mental Health team in Stirling for Older Adults; provides specialist assessment for those organic and functional illness affecting Older adults; liaison with Bellfeild Hospital.
* Develops and supports teaching, training, patient safety and service improvement work; expects SPA time included in the job plan for accreditation work.
* Drives service development as a leader in a dynamic Consultant workforce to deliver joined-up, holistic care across the whole patient journey.
* Contributes to ensuring the service is well resourced, with focus on dementia demands and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent; possess or be within 6 months of their CCT; if applying under the portfolio pathway, name must be entered onto the GMC Specialist Register at the time of application to be eligible.
* Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development.
* Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills.

As well as future proofing our service against the ever increasing demands of dementia, it will mean that our Consultants will have sufficient SPA time in their job plans to get all parts of our service accredited (for providing excellent care) according to the Royal College of Psychiatrists Centre for Quality Improvement Accreditation Standards.
Our current vacancy is within Community Mental Health team in Stirling for Older Adults. Population size of 8,000 to 10,000. The post also provides some liaison cover for Bellfeild Hospital. This service provides specialist assessment for those organic and functional illness affecting Older adults.
From day one we help all new Consultant Psychiatrists in Forth Valley embark on a journey to develop into the best doctor they can be. We would hope and expect that those we employ are keen to gain extra SPA time (in addition to accreditation work) for teaching, training, patient safety and service improvement work.
