Pharmacy Procurement & Homecare Lead

An opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Procurement and Homecare Lead to join our established, friendly and progressive Pharmacy Team at Dorset County Hospital.
We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated and dynamic Pharmacy Technician wanting to lead our procurement and homecare team at Dorset County Hospital. This can either be at an established Band 7, or a development Band 6 to 7. You should be a dynamic and resourceful Pharmacy Technician and have experience in Pharmacy Procurement and Homecare.
The Pharmacy team comprises of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Service assistants. You will be a highly valued member of the Pharmacy and should committed to delivering outstanding patient experience.
The post includes late duties, weekend working and participation in the bank holiday and on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
* To manage the safe and secure pharmacy procurement of pharmaceutical products for the Trust
* To be responsible for the development of pharmacy procurement initiatives, appropriate to the skill set, across the Trust ensuring minimisation of medicines waste, increase cost efficiency and ensure appropriate stock turnover.
* To comply with the Directives of the Wholesale Dealers' Authorisation (WDA(H)) ensuring all pharmacy procurement activity as managed, monitored and routinely audited to ensure full compliance with all applicable standards and to act under the instruction of the Responsible Person (WDA(H) to ensure that all requirements for the MHRA are met relating to pharmacy procurement.
* To work with the Pharmacy Quality Manager on issue relating to quality assurance management and monitoring in order to ensure the Pharmacy Department meets all requirements of licenses held, including the Controlled Drug Home Office License and Wholesale Dealers' Authorisation.
* To manage the safe and secure Homecare arrangements, including related CMM modules in accordance with national guidance
* To manage the implementation, monitoring and audit of regional and local Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relating to pharmacy procurement.
* To develop relationships with local and regional stakeholders such as Hospital managers, Pharmacists, Medical and clinical staff and managers from this and other organisations
* To lead and manage the Pharmacy Procurement and Stores Teams.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience
* Significant experience of pharmacy procurement and supplies operations, with recent management/supervision experience
* Significant experience as a registered Pharmacy Technician at Band 6 of above
* Significant experience and knowledge of use if JAC Pharmacy Systems
* Experience of mentoring and coaching staffExperience of training all levels of pharmacy staff
* Experience of implementing and monitoring procurement strategies
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications
Skills & Abilities
* Excellent word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Ability to communicate highly complex information in contentious circumstances.
* Ability to collect, analyse and interpret large volume intricate data.
* Knowledge of public sector and NHS procurement practices, procedures and operations.
* Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills
* Excellent presentation skills including MS PowerPoint
* Specialist knowledge of current best practice in Good Distribution Practice and medicines procurement and supply chain management
* Knowledge of UK procurement law
* Knowledge of the role Responsible Person for a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation and the related responsibilities of the MHRA
* Knowledge of the European pharmaceutical directive related to wholesale distribution and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) EU 2013/C 343/01
Education, Qualifications & Training
* BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy and/or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
* Registered Technician with GPhC
* Professional membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or currently working towards this status.
