Salary: up to £37,000 (depdendent on experience)

Job overview
As Assembly Team Leader, you'll guide and manage our assembly team, ensuring smooth, safe production and a strong drive for continuous improvement. You'll champion Lean practices across our production, uphold high quality, and develop our team's skills. Keeping production flowing means smart resource management and clear communication, acting as a key link between the shop floor and support teams like engineering.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and coach the assembly team, using regular check-ins and performance reviews to support individual growth and engagement.
* Run our new starter onboarding, making sure everyone gets up to speed smoothly and meets our core standards.
* Help plan and develop all technicians, and Senior Build Technicians, including succession, and cover plans and keeping our skills matrix up to date.
* Interview new technician applicants, checking their skills and how well they'd fit with the team.
Operational Excellence & Lean Transformation:
* Lead our Lean Manufacturing efforts, driving continuous improvement across production and running Kaizen events to solve problems quickly.
* Keep production on schedule by managing and balancing team resources. You'll quickly raise any stoppages or shortages, immediately flagging disruptions like Andons or full build stops.
* Run effective team meetings and Gemba briefings, making sure everyone knows the goals, progress, and new updates.
* Find and put in place new ways to improve processes, helping us hit our assembly KPIs and suggesting better ways to track performance.
* Oversee new tools and equipment from acceptance to integration, making sure they work perfectly for production.
* Handle training for new products or processes, making sure the team understands new controls and their impact on production.
* Develop, review, and implement comprehensive risk assessments for manufacturing processes alongside the H&S Advisor ensuring proactive mitigation of potential disruptions and quality issues.
Qualifications & experience
* Solid experience leading and managing teams in a manufacturing or assembly setting.
* Deep understanding and proven application of Lean Manufacturing (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Standardised Work), process optimisation, and using KPIs to drive improvement.
* Skilled in developing risk assessments, alongside H&S Advisors
* Competent with MES and ERP systems
* Excellent communicator, able to run effective meetings, coach team members, and work well across different departments.
* A champion for safety, with experience creating and running safety training.
* Experience bringing in new team members, helping senior technicians grow, and supporting recruitment.
* Adaptable and a strong problem-solver, able to manage changing schedules, fix complex issues, and adjust to new products or processes.
* Leadership with a positive mindset, approach each problem with a solutions orientated view.
