We’re hiring an Assistant Cost Planner to support our team in Scotland with cost control, financial reporting, and data analysis on a variety of exciting capital projects.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and supporting cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Assisting with the tracking and analysis of project costs, budgets, and forecasts
* Supporting the production of financial reports and cost dashboards
* Reviewing data to help identify trends, risks, and opportunities
* Helping prepare summaries, variance reports, and insights for internal stakeholders
* Using tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI to manage and present project data
* Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams
What We’re Looking For
* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Confident using Microsoft Excel (Power BI or similar tools is a bonus)
* Analytical mindset – someone who enjoys working with data and interpreting numbers
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
* Keen to develop and grow within a cost or commercial support environment
Ideal For Candidates Who Are
* On an apprenticeship or graduate path (finance, engineering, or analytics-related)
* Completing or working towards a project controls qualification (e.g. ECITB Level 6)
* Looking for real-world exposure to cost and performance management on active projects
