Join our client's team as a Senior Site Engineer for the Geotechnical Sub-Alliance (GSA) at the Sizewell C nuclear power station project. This role is crucial for leading multiple workfronts in ground engineering works, ensuring top safety, quality, and efficiency using advanced construction techniques.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Technical & Site Operations: Lead resource allocation, resolve technical issues, drive close-out of non-conformities, and ensure compliance with ITPs/RAMS/permits.
* Safety Leadership: Lead safety investigations, provide visible safety leadership, and trend recurring issues.
* Site Briefings: Manage briefing content, deliver high-level briefings to clients/stakeholders, and audit briefing quality and records.
* Procurement Management: Define procurement plans, make hire vs buy decisions, and manage subcontractor performance and variations.
* Quality Assurance: Own the QA plan for D-Wall/soil mixing scope, ensure ITP coverage, close NCRs, and provide data-driven QA reporting.
* Productivity Management: Benchmark and analyze rates, remove systemic constraints, lead productivity reviews, and track outcomes.
* Programme Management: Manage detailed sequencing, handle float, run critical path checks, and lead delay analysis and recovery resequencing.
* Commercial Oversight: Lead preparation of EWs/NCEs/CEs, manage cost/value trends, and contribute to forecasts and earned value analysis.
* Contractual Compliance: Ensure compliance with NEC4 Option 4 – Alliance, lead change documentation, and secure timely programme acceptance updates.
* Leadership & Attitude: Coach and mentor engineers, manage performance, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience: Typically 5-8 years in senior leadership of work fronts, with a strong background in ground engineering.
* Education: Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering; IEng/CEng is desirable.
* Certifications: CSCS required; SMSTS, AP Course, Incident Investigation training, and NEC4 accreditation are preferred.
* Technical Competence: Advanced knowledge in D-Wall, soil mixing, grouting, de-risking, and rapid issue resolution.
* Programme/Commercial/Contractual Skills: Expertise in terminal float management, critical path analysis, delay analysis, and NEC4 processes.
* Tools & Systems: Proficiency in P6, MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Cemar.
