Job Title: Service Department Manager (Fenestration)
Location: Clevedon, North Somerset
Employment Type: 40 hours Monday to Friday, Permanent
Salary: £32,000
Reporting to: Installation Department Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Service Department Manager to lead our service function covering windows, doors, conservatories, and associated fenestration products. The role involves managing one Service Engineer and owning the warranty and remedial service process from start to finish. The role involves direct interaction with customers, ensuring the quality and performance of our products meet the highest standards of safety and functionality.
Responsibilities
* Customer & Case Management: Interact directly with clients to understand and resolve concerns related to fenestration systems. Provide clear and timely communication regarding service issues, solutions, and product recommendations.
* Technical Oversight: Offer guidance and technical advice to clients and internal teams, ensuring that any installation, repairs, or modifications meet with building regulations and industry standards (Certass).
* Scheduling & Resource Planning: Managing the engineer’s diary and prioritizing urgent work.
* Training: Educate customers and staff on the proper use, care, and maintenance of fenestration products.
* Parts & Cost Control: Ordering parts, maintaining stock, and managing service costs.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and installations, ensuring that all work is documented and reported according to company policies and procedures.
* Chargeable Service Work: Produce quotes for work required outside of any warranty period (e.g., broken hinges, failed sealed units, damaged door locks). This is an area of revenue that Seal-Lite are looking to expand.
* Continuous Improvement: Identifying root causes of defects and improving service processes.
Required Skills & Experience
* Fenestration service/installation background.
* Experience of Conservatories would be advantageous.
* Strong diagnostics skills.
* Experience scheduling engineers and overseeing parts.
* Excellent customer service abilities.
* Competence with Microsoft Office/CRM tools.
* Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Fenestration Installation/Repair.
* CERTASS MTC or equivalent.
* Knowledge of Building Regulations for fenestration.
