Shop Manager's Assistant – Part Time (Fixed Term for up to 12 months) – Wadebridge
Join Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as a Shop Manager’s Assistant on a part‑time fixed term contract (up to 12 months). The role supports the Shop Manager with running the shop, which is crucial for fundraising to support CHSW’s care for children with life-limiting conditions.
The Role
You will be serving customers, sorting and displaying stock, handling cash, and following health and safety procedures. You will assist the manager in encouraging a positive working culture and help create a happy working environment. The shop operates 7 days a week, and you will cover a variety of shifts on a rotational basis, including weekends.
Responsibilities
* Serve customers and provide friendly, high‑quality service
* Sort, display and rotate stock; manage merchandising on the shop floor
* Handle cash and assist with till operations following cash handling procedures
* Support Health and Safety procedures in the shop
* Plan, prioritise and delegate workload for volunteers as required
* Assist the manager in maintaining a positive working culture and environment
* Cover shifts across 7 days on a rotational basis
The Successful Candidate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You will be organized, able to manage your time effectively, and have experience in retail or customer service. You should be able to work both as part of a team and using your own initiative.
