Main Duties of the Job
* Provide clinical expertise as a first contact Physiotherapist managing musculoskeletal patients, working towards and completing the Health Education England FCP roadmap stages 1 and 2.
* Operate in both a primary care network and within well‑equipped Physiotherapy Departments at St. Leonards Hospital and satellite clinics across Hackney as a Band 7 FCP.
* Deliver clinical education and quality improvement projects across the service, and provide evidence‑based patient‑centred physiotherapy management to a varied caseload of musculoskeletal patients.
* Develop supervision and mentorship skills, including the opportunity to supervise Band 6 Physiotherapists.
* Support completion of Level 7 competencies through regular senior MSK teaching, dedicated one‑to‑one Band 8a supervision, weekly FCP peer support sessions and funding for courses/MSc modules.
Person Specification
* Education / qualification
o Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
o Relevant training and working towards a relevant M‑level qualification.
* Skills & abilities
o Level 7 specialist MSK assessment skills and clinical reasoning, complex caseload management and specialist physiotherapy rehabilitation skills.
o Effective communication with patients and colleagues; ability to work in a multicultural community.
o Leadership, project management, teaching and presentation skills.
* Experience
o In‑depth MSK concepts and prescription approaches, substantive postgraduate experience in an MSK setting at senior level.
o Knowledge of current NHS pathways, complex caseload management, specialist clinical rehabilitation skills.
o Experience working within NHS MSK pathways and teams, and supervision experience.
* Other
o Evidence‑based practice, CPD principles, understanding and demonstration of Trust values.
* Knowledge
o In‑depth knowledge of MSK dysfunction, pain and treatment.
o Awareness of current professional and health service issues, understanding of NHS systems and pathways.
o Knowledge meeting Level 7 MSK standards.
