We’re the team that brings KFC to life – literally, turning big ambition into brilliant bricks and mortar. From new builds to bold remodels, we are responsible for shaping the spaces where our people work and our customers experience our brand.
We cover it all: acquiring and building new restaurants, supporting our franchisees on their development journeys, and managing the design, lease, and layout of every equity restaurant — both current and future.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
WHAT YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME DOING:
As our In-House Store Designer, you will be responsible for designing and managing restaurant projects from concept to completion. You will work closely with stakeholders, including Operations, Marketing, Design, and Construction teams, to develop innovative, efficient, and brand-aligned restaurant designs. This role requires a deep understanding of restaurant layout planning, materials, compliance regulations, and sustainability practices.
* Restaurant Design: Develop creative and functional restaurant designs that align with brand identity, design standards, and customer experience goals (primarily 2D CAD plans and elevations).
* Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external contractors, and vendors to execute designs effectively.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet local building regulations, health and safety standards, and accessibility requirements.
* Prototype & Innovation: Support the creation of design prototypes and explore innovative solutions to improve restaurant aesthetics and efficiency.
* Cost Efficiency: Optimize designs to balance cost-effectiveness with high-quality standards.
WHAT WE WOULD LOVE FROM YOU:
* Strong experience in architectural design, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry, including general site surveying/measured survey experience to prepare drawings from survey notes.
* Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
* Knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and construction best practices.
* Proven track record of preparing and successfully obtaining planning, landlord, and Building Control approvals.
* Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Process-oriented with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Full UK Driving License & prepared to travel within the UK and Ireland & spend time away overnight during the week.
* Enjoys working in a team environment with people of various disciplines, at all levels within the organization.
